Cupcake Vineyards Riesling Mosel Valley 2009
“When you look at cupcake, you’ve got to smile.” – Anne Byrn
Everybody loves cupcakes. And as it is with Cupcake Vineyards. Wine Harlots were smiling a lot when they were quaffing Cupcake Vineyards Riesling from Mosel Valley. The favors are nuanced and elegant. Citrusy and bright with a hint of minerality. The wine is great for drinking without food, but the perfect pairing for this is a white fish, we suggest trying Rick Bakas’ Sautéed Halibut with Celery Root & Truffle.
Packaging matters. I’m a sucker for cobalt, so the blue bottle with the yellow trim is festive and fun – perfect to bring as a hostess gift, whether it’s a bottle or a case (and at this price point, you won’t be breaking the bank.)
The details: 10.5% alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Appellation: Mosel, Germany. The retail list price is $12 USD. Savvy shoppers can find this for about $8-10. This was a wine sample that was procured from a winemaker dinner with Adam Richardson of Underdog Wine Merchants, facilitated by Folsom & Associates.
The music match is “Blue Monday” from New Order from the album Power, Corruption & Lies. If you’re feeling blue on Monday, have a Cupcake, and you’ll have to smile. Guaranteed.

Funny thing ... I was just listening to New Order's "Temptation" the other day. I found my copy of The Transpotting Soundtrack and can't get enough!
That wine sounds fantastic - thanks for sharing!
